Even angels are wrong. Imagination is seeing things properly, real things, seeing them fully in all their contexts with all their connections in place, all the things they mean aroud them...The secret commonweralth./div>div>br>/div>div>イマジネーションはただの絵空事だと思っている人は、間違っています。天使でさえも間違っていました。イマジネーションとは、物事を正しく、現実のものとして、あらゆる文脈、あらゆる繋がり、そしてそれらが周囲に持つあらゆる意味…秘密のコモンウエルスをも含め、完全に見ることです。/div>div>』/div>div>br>/div>div>こうした構成ですから、旧三部作のような明瞭な結論は得られません。端的な例として、旧三部作では、そのラストでライラは「天国の共和国 The Republic of Heaven」を築くと意気込みます。ですが今回の新三部作ラストでは、ライラはただ「物語をするため Go on telling stories」に旅立つのみなのです。/div>div>br>/div>div>そして小説作法におけるツッコミどころは満載（笑）となります、以下順不同です。/div>div>br>/div>div>1）すべての謎は完全には説明されません、と云いますか、正確に云うと、ほとんど説明されないのと同等でありましょう。（笑）ブルーホテルと云う名前のダエモンが集うという場所も、砂漠の中の赤い建物も、結局のところ、それが何であったのか明瞭に説明がされたりはいたしません。/div>div>例えば「秘密のコモンウェルス」において、マルコムは瀕死のベッドに横たわるDr.Ted Cartwright（彼はTashbulak砂漠にある研究所the research stationの所長the directorです）に会いますが、偽の看護婦がCartwrightを殺害し、マルコムも撃たれて負傷します。これはTP（製薬のコングロマリット会社）の差し金に依るもののようでしたが、正確には分からず、そもそもなぜCartwrightの口を封じる必要があったのか、これも定かでないままなんですね。/div>div>br>/div>div>2）「秘密のコモンウェルス」では実在の人物アリソン・ウェザーフィールド女史 Alison Wetherfieldが登場し、かつ同書巻末の謝辞で、彼女は「最後の巻で彼女と再会するでしょう」と予告されておりました。ところが、今回どこも見ても彼女は登場いたしません、どうしたんでしょうねぇ。（笑）/div>div>br>/div>div>3）「琥珀の望遠鏡」において、複数世界をつなぐ開口は、ただ1つを除いて、すべて閉じねばならないとされていました。そして、人は自分の世界でないところでは長生きできないとも。それ故に、主人公ライラとウィルはあのオックスフォード植物園で、涙の別れをすることとなったのでした。その前提が覆されます。なんと、その「真実」を語った天使が、あれは「嘘も方便」であったと、告白するのです。おいおい、今さらそれはないだろう。（笑）実際にライラの世界中いたるところに開口が発見されます。そして、スペクターなんて発生している様子はないのです。むしろこうした多くの開口が、世界の安定に寄与しているのではないかとされ、ライラに敵対する勢力は、その開口をことごとく塞ごうと暗躍するのです。こりゃもう、主客転倒もいいところであります。（笑）/div>div>br>/div>div>4）「秘密のコモンウェルス」以来、ライラの不倶戴天の敵と思っていた相手が、急になれなれしく、「よぉ、きょうだい！」とか云って、しれっとして現れるってのは、どーなんでしょうか。（笑）/div>div>br>/div>div>みっちの感想：/div>div>最近はKindleで読むことが多くなっているのですが、紙の本との決定的な違いは、強力な検索機能が使えることです。あれっ、どういう経緯だったかなぁとか、この人名の人はいつ出てきたんだったかなぁとか、よくある疑問は、検索機能で簡単に解決します。さらに、みっちの場合、複数の端末を使い、メインに読み進める端末と、過去の経緯を振り返ったりする端末を分けています。iPad ProにせよiPad miniにせよ、CPUは強力そのもので、一瞬で検索でき、まったくストレスはありません。こうした状況で読書ができることを前提にすると、プルマンさんの、特に今回の「ローズ・フィールド」は過去の経緯を振り返る箇所が多すぎて煩わしいです。紙の本の場合ですとね、例えば前作の「秘密のコモンウェルス」で、あそこの所はどうなってたっけ、とか調べるのはけっこう大変です。そのため、作者のこうした配慮は親切なんですが、いまや状況は異なります。プルマンさんは相変わらずボールペンと紙で執筆しているんでしょうねぇ、ちょっと時代の変化に追いついていないかな、これはイマジネーションの問題ではないと思います。（笑）/div>div>br>/div>div>span stylecolor:#ff0000>以下追記です。/span>/div>div>br>/div>div>div>ちょっと気になったのは、悪に対する暴力行使に、かなり肯定的なニュアンスが感じられることです。例えば、これはライラが、マルコムが狂信者たちの集団「山から来た男たち」のリーダーを殺したことを聞き、また「美しき野生号」でライラを救うためにボンネビルを殺した経緯を思い出したシーンです。/div>div>br>/div>div>『/div>div>Lyra ... remembered Farder Coram saying that if good people wanted to defeat evil ones, they would have to be unscrupulous. Perhaps being unscrupulous might include killing people, sometimes.
